José A. Sánchez, Sr.

President, Board of Directors

In January 1975 José stopped working with Heinz Corporation and was employed by The Puerto Rican Action Committee as a case worker. Prior to his employment with PRAC José had been named a board member in 1974.

After attending Salem Community College and with the experience he received working with PRAC in the Social Services field, José was hired at the Salem County Board of Social Services in 1976 where he still currently employed as a supervisor. José was the Welfare Director for Pennsville Township from 1994-2000 and also worked for MPI Investigative Services in Woodstown, NJ as a Senior Investigator from 2000-2006.

 

 

Steve Torres

Vice President, Board of Directors

Steve is the grandson of one of the pioneers and Founding Fathers of PRAC, Pedro Bonilla Sr. Born & raised in Salem County. Penns Grove-Carneys Point High School graduate (1988).  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University (1993) and then his Master’s Degree in Counseling Studies from Capella University (2010). Presently, Steve is in the progress in completing his PhD Residency through Capella University. Steve is a former Board member of the Salem Health & Wellness Foundation 2003-2009, Former Board Member of the Salem County YMCA and the  42nd Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards Gala recipient in 2013.

In 2001, Steve assisted in providing mental health triage/disaster counseling at Ground Zero following the Sept. 11 attacks from September 2001-Jaunary 2002. Steve is extremely proud of over 20 plus years of mental health / crisis experience.

Brian K. Timberman

Board Member

Brian received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Finance from Widener University and has completed Commercial Lending School, University of Oklahoma, National Compliance School, University of Oklahoma, Bank Operations School, Rutgers University and numerous other banking courses. Prior to joining Capital Bank in April 2014 Brian was employed by Fulton Bank of NJ as Sr. V.P. Manager of the Woodstown Loan Production Office. Prior to Fulton Bank, Brian also worked as a Sr. V.P. Commercial Loan Officer for Susquehanna Bank having an office in Mullica Hill, NJ.

Active in the community, Brian serves as Vice Chairman of the Memorial Hospital of Salem County, Chairman of Salem County Vocational School Foundation Board of Trustees and serves as a Board member for P.R.A.C. of Southern New Jersey. Born and raised in Salem County, Brian resides with his family in Pittsgrove, NJ.

Irene Scarpaci

Board Member

Worked eight years for JP Morgan, Vice president Nassau Branch. Handled handled hedge accounting for interest rate and foreign exchange swaps on an eight-billion-dollar portfolio.  Provided back office support for the JP Morgan foreign exchange desk in New York. Liaison for the Nassau Branch and other international subsidiaries to the computer programming area. Irene is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Tax Assessor. Irene is also the proprietor of a family owned business in Penns Grove, Salem County, NJ.

Rev. Edward Dorn

Board Member

Reverend Dorn was the Pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Pedricktown for the past 35 years. He attended the Pennsylvania Baptist School of Christian Education in Pittsburgh, PA, Gloucester County College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree, Glassboro State College and then the Covington Theological Seminary , where he earned his Bachelor and Doctorate degrees.

Rev. Dorn served on a multitude of national, state and local boards. He most recently was a commissioner with the Delaware river Bay authority.

Mayra Arroyo

Board Member

Mayra Arroyo was born in Manhattan, N. Y., but raised in Vineland, NJ. Previously to her current position Mayra was Assistant Director/Counselor of the EOF Program at Rowan University.   Prior to working at Rowan University she was employed by Cumberland County College as an Academic Advisor/Counselor.    Mayra has received numerous awards for her service and dedication to the community.   She was also inducted to the Cumberland County College Distinguished Alumni in 2002 and in 2003 inducted as an EOF Distinguish Alumni.

Prior to being elected to serve in the Vineland City Council in May 2008, Mayra has served in the Vineland Board of Education for seven years (elected in April 2002 and re-elected in 2003 and 2006).

Andre Lopez

Board Member

Lopez served as Captain and Bureau chief for the New Jersey State Police for nearly 27 years.  With more than 30 years of law enforcement and military experience, he currently serves as the director of school safety for the Cumberland County Technical Education Center as well as an adjunct professor for Cumberland County College and Wilmington University.

He possess a Masters degree in Administrative Science  and a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
