PRACS Services are provided with bi-lingual and bi-cultural professionalism.
Department of Children and Families, Division of Youth and Family Services - PRAC services over 8,000 clients annually for DYFS with transportation and supervised visitation services for its offices in Cape May, Camden, Cumberland, Burlington, Gloucester, Salem and Atlantic counties.
Employment Services are provided to Hispanic and non-Hispanic residents of Cape May, Salem, Cumberland, and Atlantic County. This program provides training needed to maintain FT employment. Clients are trained in the following: job search, resumes, applications, interviews, positive behaviors at work, and money management.
Through collaboration, outreach, referrals, personal contacts, telephone, mail, employment agencies, internet searches etc, clients are informed of available job openings. Clients can receive transportation to job interviews, if needed, and we will also provide translation and moral support during the interview process.
Training sessions can be held individually or in groups.
"EASY"-Employment Access for Southern Youth is a job readiness training program for 14 - 17 year old students in Salem, Burlington, Cape May, and Cumberland Counties, conducted as collaboration with (SASCA) the Spanish American Services Cultural Association of Burlington County. The program provides youth with detailed pre-employment resources in a bi-lingual, bi-cultural environment. Students will be taught the following: resumes, completing applications, interviewing skills, demonstrating positive attitudes in the workplace, money management, etc. The major focus will be geared towards schools/municipalities with a large Hispanic population.
Training can be done individually or in groups.
Outreach Services - We offer Outreach that is extensive and specific to each respective market. Outreach to Salem and Cape May County's Senior community in Salem County is provided in collaboration with the County's Departments on Aging. Transportation can also be provided to these agencies.
Comprehensive Hispanic Highway Traffic Safety - Provide information and raise awareness within the Hispanic population of the importance of proper traffic safety principles for persons 16 to 28 years of age on distracted driving and various traffic crash problems within Salem, Cape May, and Burlington Counties. This is a collaboration between the N.J. Division of Highway Traffic Safety, the Department of Community Affairs Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development, and SASCA. Child Passenger Safety Workshops are also available.
Multi-Services - PRAC provides a wide array of intensive case management for needy members of the community. Many are unable to access the services available to them due to their lack of transportation and their inability to communicate in English. Our Case Workers are called upon to provide transportation for the clients to agencies, hospitals, counseling, therapies, etc., but must also stay with the client and assist in resolving issues including health management, employment related issues, translation of documents, housing related issues, etc. We also assist with providing or referring essential social services across a host of needs, including but not limited to: emergency response, transitional housing, employment, information and advocacy, health, translation, transportation, legal mediation, cultural observances, and the food pantry.
Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - Information, education, and outreach is provided to Hispanic woman age 40 and over in Salem, Atlantic, Cumberland, Cape May Counties. Information and education is provided through house parties, group workshops, or one-on-one education.
During the House Parties attendees will be provided with culturally appropriate materials. Women who have not received a mammogram in at least two years will be encouraged to schedule a mammogram.
Homelessness Prevention Rental Assistance Program - Provides temporary assistance with security deposits and rent to eligible households in Cape May County. Tenant must be in the process of being evicted due to a temporary financial situation. Funds can be used to assist with rental payments that are past due.
Tenants must be deemed eligible through the guidelines set forth by the NJ Department of Community Affairs.
LIHEAP/USF - Starting November 2010 - Will provide information and assistance in the intake and processing of Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Universal Service Fund (USF) Applications in Salem County. PRAC will process applications in order to provide assistance to community members who are experiencing financial difficulties with heating and medical cooling situations.
In order to provide these services we will do the following: Process applications received by walk-ins, through the mail, and through on-site outreach; and inform homeowners of Home Energy Assistance benefits, which can include emergency fuel purchases and restoration of services.
Clients facing utility shut-offs may also be eligible for assistance through our Emergency Services Program. This program can assist households that are in imminent danger of having their service terminated.
New Jersey SHARES - Provides relief to people, who are not eligible for other types of assistance. New Jersey SHARES, Inc. is a non-profit organization charged with a mission to provide assistance to individuals and families living in New Jersey who are in need of temporary help in paying their energy bills. NJ SHARES is the only statewide, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which provides grants to pay the energy and utility bills of households in need, through a statewide network of more than 252 community-based social service agencies operating out of 279 sites.
